Since 1958, the Ducourt family has developed their winegrowing holding and constitutes one of the biggest wineries of Bordeaux with 12 châteaux and 440 acres of vineyards, including the Haurets Château. In the beginning, a modest agricultural farm, the small establishment expanded and subsequently became the family’s place of residence. Continuing the work begun by his elders, Jonathan Ducourt, in charge of the commercial activity, explained the history of the Château d’Haurets to us. Located in Ladaux at a few hundreds meters from the vinification cellars, the vineyard completely surrounds the Château and its mill. The property benefits from a fresh terroir with a dominant feature of clay-limestone soil.

Château de La Chaize and its vineyard were founded in 1676. With its 380 hectares at the foot of Mont Brouilly, it is one of the largest and most emblematic Beaujolais wine estates. The descendants of its founder, Jean-François de La Chaize d’Aix, took care of the estate for nearly 350 years, until it was sold to the family of Christophe Gruy in 2017. The latter decided to make this remarkable vineyard really shine, with an extremely environmentally friendly approach. With Boris Gruy – his nephew and Vineyard Manager – he converted the estate to organic and then biodynamic winegrowing, to enable plot-based winemaking of the highest standard and extract the full potential from the Gamay grapes. Today, Boris Gruy, who is a qualified oenologist, is fully in charge of the estate’s future.

Located in Saint-Yzans in the Médoc, Château Sigognac is a 47-hectare vineyard which has had the Cru Bourgeois classification since 1932. It has been established on this magnificent terroir between the ocean and the Gironde estuary for five centuries. The Sigognac estate is one of the Médoc’s historical properties and has had numerous owners over time. In 2009, it was bought by Christophe Allard. His goal was to modernize the estate, while reviving the traditions and savoir-faire that have always made the estate’s wines highly sought after. Today, his son Louis Allard is managing director of the estate. After trials on several plots, Sigognac began a conversion to organic farming in 2020 and should be fully certified organic in 2023.

This 15-hectare estate at the foot of the ‘Colline Eternelle’ was bought by the Camu brothers in 1999 then taken over by the Baron Patrick de Ladoucette in 2008. In order to produce fruity, terroir-driven wines that express the full potential of the Vézelay area, he keeps yields low and employs traditional winemaking methods. When Judith Melka and Philippe Peignier bought the wine estate formerly known as Domaine de Belles Courbes, they renamed it Chai Julip. Their arrival has given a new burst of energy to this winery which has a reputation for excellent St. Chinian wines. Clinging to the hillside on a bed of schist and sandstone, the vineyard lies at 200 metres altitude, to the north of Béziers. The vines are 40 years old on average and the original way in which they are planted, snaking around the three hills in curves following the contour lines, is one of the distinctive features of the estate.

At Domaine Combier, in the northern Rhône Valley, three generations of winemakers have been cultivating 60 hectares of grapevines out of love of the terroir. Early on, Laurent Combier knew he wanted to respect the grapevines and the soil by taking an eco-responsible approach and eventually becoming a pioneer in organic farming. His sons David and Julien, who have already been instilled with the winemaking spirit, are next in line to take over.
