Situated in Beine, near Chablis in Burgundy, Domaine de la Motte is a family-run wine estate that has been passed from father to son since 1950. Today, Adrien Michaud works to produce high quality wines from their 53 hectares of vineyards. The vines of this Petit Chablis grow on Portlandian soil. It is a limestone-rich soil with very little clay which produces supple wines that are more fruity than mineral.

Originally from a farming family, Henri Ramonteu gave up everything in 1988 to begin making wine. After expanding his vineyard year upon year, this intuitive and genuine winemaker today cultivates some 40 hectares of vines. With his extremely late-harvested sweet white wines, for which grapes are sometimes picked after January 1st, Henri Ramonteu has shaken up the world of Jurançon winemaking and helped to restore the reputation of the Petit Manseng grape.

The Muzard Vineyard belongs to a very old Santenay family where they have been winegrowers from father to son for nine generations (Jacques Muzard in 1645). Mr and Mrs Lucien Muzard structured the establishment in the 60s by renting vines at first and then bought them little by little. Claude and Hervé Muzard now operate the 16 acres of the family vineyard, spread out over different climates in Santenay, Chassagne Montrachet and Pommard. The overall production of the vineyard is 5% white wines.

Château de Lascaux is a family-run wine estate that has belonged to the Cavalier family for 14 generations. After completing engineering studies in agronomy, Jean-Benoît took the estate’s destiny in his hands. From the 20 or so hectares of vines when he took over in 1984, the vineyard has grown to its present size of almost 85 hectares, surrounded by 300 hectares of garrigue scrub. Isabelle and Jean-Benoît have achieved organic certification for their entire vineyard, however their practices and aspirations run much deeper than a simple label. Their humility towards nature, fascination and excitement for the coming vintages are transmitted by Jean-Benoît every day to his team.

In 1993, Claire Villars Lurton, then aged 25, decided to take over Château La Gurgue and continue the renovation work begun by her mother. She embarked on a major reconstruction of the cellars and vat room in order to bring out the best in the vineyard's precious terroir. At the same time, a great deal of work was carried out to move towards sustainable viticulture. Since then, the estate has succeeded in producing wines that combine finesse, delicacy and elegance to put them on a par with the very best.
