AOP Saint-Chinian

Domaine Chai Julip 2020

€420 Flacon de 10cl

This blackish coloured Saint-Chinian brings us a concentrated and intensely aromatic nose. Fruity blackcurrant and blackberry notes combine with leather interwoven with smoky notes. With its delicious black fruit flavours, the palate is a real treat, too. It’s a supple wine with a lovely fruity character and very nice length. A true to pleasure to drink!

Winemakers

Judith Melka et Philippe Peignier

When Judith Melka and Philippe Peignier bought the wine estate formerly known as Domaine de Belles Courbes, they renamed it Chai Julip. Their arrival has given a new burst of energy to this winery which has a reputation for excellent St. Chinian wines. Clinging to the hillside on a bed of schist and sandstone, the vineyard lies at 200 metres altitude, to the north of Béziers. The vines are 40 years old on average and the original way in which they are planted, snaking around the three hills in curves following the contour lines, is one of the distinctive features of the estate.
