AOP Languedoc Pic-saint-loup

Château de Lascaux 2017

€740 Flacon de 10cl

Situated in a sheltered zone between the Mediterranean and the Cévennes at 150 metres altitude, the Pic Saint-Loup winegrowing area covers nearly 1,000 hectares. On the nose, this wine has alternating aromas of fruit and oak. Its cherry and raspberry red fruits lead into notes of blackberry and blueberry, followed by roasted notes of toast and coffee. On the palate, a firm initial texture gives way to a rich and opulent wine with very nice structure, stretched out by tannins in the finish.

Winemaker

Jean-Benoit Cavalier

Château de Lascaux is a family-run wine estate that has belonged to the Cavalier family for 14 generations. After completing engineering studies in agronomy, Jean-Benoît took the estate’s destiny in his hands. From the 20 or so hectares of vines when he took over in 1984, the vineyard has grown to its present size of almost 85 hectares, surrounded by 300 hectares of garrigue scrub. Isabelle and Jean-Benoît have achieved organic certification for their entire vineyard, however their practices and aspirations run much deeper than a simple label. Their humility towards nature, fascination and excitement for the coming vintages are transmitted by Jean-Benoît every day to his team.
