AOP Côtes-du-Rhône

Le Clos des Saumanes 2019

€590 Flacon de 10cl

Here we have a wine for you with superb balance. This lemon coloured Côtes-du-Rhône white reveals a fresh nose with aromas of apple. It has floral notes, too, with daphne and lemon blossom leading into sweet spices and a slight hint of mintiness. On the palate, this soft dry wine has vivacity and is beautifully balanced in structure. Pair it with soft mild cheeses, like Saint-Félicien for a touch of richness, or harder ones like Comté or Beaufort.

Lying amid vineyards dating from the 13th-century, Clos des Saumanes is an entirely walled vineyard of 25 hecatres, surrounded by Mediterranean garrigue, broom and boxwood. The vineyard is cultivated by Martine and Robert Janer who practice sustainable winegrowing with low, controlled yields. They are driven by the desire to care for this place that they love so much and to grow beautiful grapes from it to produce original, ‘pleasure’ wines.
