AOP Côtes de Bourg

Château Le Clos du Notaire 2014

€380 Bottle of 10cl

This deep colored wine is bursting with black fruit aromas such as black cherry, and has the typically round character of Merlot with the subtle tannic structure of the Cabernet grape. Intermingling notes of smoke, undergrowth and bramble make Clos du Notaire a wine with character. It is generous and full-bodied on the palate, with an elegant and pleasantly firm finish. Clos du Notaire is a deliciously rich and juicy wine which is at its best with cheese, red meat, or even a rustic French quail and grapes dish.

Winemaker

Amélie Osmond et Victor Mischler

In the past, the Château was owned by a lawyer, followed by Henri Coutin, a local notaire or notary from Jonzac, who is responsible for the name Clos du Notaire. In 2015, several decades on, Amélie Osmond and Victor Mischler fell in love with the estate and decided to place their bets on the venture. The tremendous winegrowing conditions, the modern winery equipment, the location and the microclimate created by the closeness of the Gironde estuary convinced them to take the plunge. Their one goal is to allow this magnificent terroir to express itself while perpetuating the tradition of quality winegrowing and winemaking. Their philosophy is based on respect for the environment, sustainable development and, above all, dedication.
