Château Trotte Vieille Premier Grand Cru Classé 2016

€2360 Flacon de 10cl

You’ll love this Château Trotte Vieille Premier Grand Cru Classé 2016, which deserves its status as one of Saint Emilion’s finest wines. The nose reveals this wine’s great finesse. Slightly smoky notes and a hint of hazelnut lead into delicate raspberry and cherry notes. On the palate, this wine has smooth, silky tannins. Along with beautiful texture it boasts ripe fruit and spiced flavours, followed by notes of fresh tobacco and forest floor. This château’s ‘Grand Vin’ combines aromatic intensity and delicate tannins to a tee.

This Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé château is apparently named after the old lady who lived here several hundred years ago. Legend has it that every time a horse and coach stopped near the château, the old lady would ‘trot’ down to ask for news, hence the name “Trotte Vieille” (vieille means old lady in French). Today, Trotte Vieille is known for its superb sloping vineyard and stunning, classically elegant wines, making it, without doubt, an absolute reference among Saint-Emilion wines.
