AOP Pessac-Léognan

Château Baret 2016

€660 Flacon de 10cl

Grown on clay and limestone and clay and gravel soils, the white wines of Pessac-Leognan are quite rare for the appellation. This one has an attractive pale yellow-gold colour. On the nose, this deliciously rich wine reveals notes of tarte tatin as well as flowers, while the palate is a very nice balance between richness, roundness and vivacity, thanks in particular to its zesty citrus side.

Château Baret was formerly the estate of the Baret family, a family of nobility, but has belonged to the Ballande family for the last 200 years. The Château lies on the edge of Bordeaux in Villenave d’Ornon and is entirely surrounded by a vineyard, like most of the Pessac-Léognan Grand Cru chateaus. During the last 20 years, the vineyard has undergone a complete overhaul to ensure the production of excellent quality dry white wines.
