AOP Fiefs Vendéens Mareuil

Maison Mourat 2016

€560 Flacon de 10cl

This stunning wine comes from the Mourat vineyards in the Fiefs Vendéens AOP. It is a delicate dry white wine with a deliciously bright colour and an intense nose, revealing striking notes of apricot along with a hint of honeysuckle. The initial aromas of this extremely rich Mareuil then develop into ripe, stewed fruits and notes of baking spice like cinnamon, vanilla and even nutmeg. Beautiful vivacity on the palate provides brilliant balance for the fullness that comes with great Chenin wines. This is a very nice wine with lovely length

Winemaker

Jérémie Mourat

Situated at the western end of the Loire Valley, the Mourat vineyards are caressed by maritime breezes. The family’s story is firmly linked with wine. The Mourats were winemakers and salt merchants until the end of the 19th century, then wine merchants for three generations, before Jean Mourat established the vineyard in 1974. Today Jérémie Mourat runs the business, having taken over in 1998. His goal is to perpetuate the family tradition while also bringing in fresh ideas. For example, the estate has been gradually converting to organic winegrowing over the last ten years.
