Winemaker

Axel Pauly

The Mosel is Germany’s oldest winemaking region and its winemakers are quite rightly considered as the world’s experts of Riesling. Domaine Pauly is located in Lieser, a little upstream of Bernkastle, along the Moselle river. It is a typical Mosel, family-run estate with 5.5 hectares of vines. The father, Rudolf Pauly, produced some 60 vintages in his time, before his son Axel took over the estate in 2004. After studying in Geisenheim, Alex acquired a range of experience around the world, before returning to his family homeland. Since his arrival, the style of the wines has evolved towards more freshness and delicacy of fruit.
